Valentine’s Day Date Night At Home

Valentine’s Day Date Night At Home

valentines day flowersThankfully, Valentine’s Day in 2022 may be a bit more normal as restrictions are easing up a little and it’s starting to feel more like pre-COVID days. While some of you may be going out for dinner this year, I think the hubs and I will be staying home, cooking dinner (or ordering in some yummy sushi) and enjoying a well-deserved movie night.

If you’re also celebrating at home this year, here are a few ideas and cute home décor items that will help set the mood without being a total cheeseball:

Decorate With Flowers

Getting a beautiful bouquet of red roses from your partner is nice, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get some Valentine’s Day themed florals to decorate your home with! You can add flowers to your coffee tables, dining tables and consoles to help enhance the romantic atmosphere. This year, I had the florist put a variety of flowers together in various shades of pink – pastel pink, dusty pink, and rose pink. I then added a bit of cream and some greens to the mix. Don’t they look pretty?

Create Some Mood Lighting

Get your favorite candles out (the same scent throughout the house), and make sure to turn your lamps on for some soft lighting. I would avoid overhead lighting completely! For a more relaxing atmosphere at home, I usually turn on a couple of lamps with some scented candles scattered around. My favorite candle for a romantic evening is something with a bit of a floral scent, like jasmine. I don’t have a great shot of my house at night (but lots of videos on my Instagram!), however, this photo of Chris Loves Julia’s new living room is exactly the vibe you should be going for.

Make a Grazing Board or some Dessert

Or make both! If you’re also doing a movie night, instead of settling for popcorn, why not make it a bit more special and create a grazing board together with mini savory treats (cheese or a charcuterie board is good too) or yummy desserts. This beautiful grazing board below by Domestikated Life combines sweet and savory just in case you can’t decide. Brownies will probably be my go-to dessert this year, and this recipe by Half-Baked Harvest is one of my all-time faves.

Add Some Valentine’s Day Décor

Valentine’s Day décor does not have to be cheesy at all. If you sprinkle a few things around the house in moderation, you can decorate for the occasion and keep it classy. I would recommend putting an item or two on multiple surfaces. For example, you can use the “love” sign on a stack of books on a coffee table, the faux peonies on an entryway console table, and one heart cushion on a large sectional paired with a pink blanket on the opposite side. Here are just a few of the cute things that you can use and order online this year:
