The collection of homes featured on Season 4 of HGTV’s hit renovation competition “Rock the Block” is hitting the market. Get ready to grab one!

On the competition show, four groups of all-star designers went head to head renovating four identical homes in the Heron Lakes community of Berthoud, CO. These were the largest homes in the show’s history, and the teams were given the biggest budget yet.

The teams had just six weeks to transform the newly constructed, 5,000-square-foot homes. The residences range in price from $3,150,000 to $3,450,000.

The winner of the competition was the property that fetched the highest appraised value at the end, and that was the blockbuster design by Michel Smith Boyd and Anthony Elle.

Design superstars

Hosted by Ty Pennington, Season 4’s teams consisted of Bryan and Sarah Baeumler (2517 Southwind Rd), Smith Boyd and Elle (2531 Southwind Rd), Jonathan Knight and Kristina Crestin (2506 Southwind Rd), and Page Turner and Mitch Glew (2490 Southwind Rd).

“The show’s premise is designers take four identical plans, put their own twist on the design, and try to increase the square footage value,” says listing agent Tamara Sherrill, of Re/Max Alliance. “It’s fascinating to watch how each changes the plans. Every house is so unique on the inside, from the finishes to the layout.”

She adds that it was serendipity that led the show to her backyard.

Landmark Homes has an affiliation with a builder group to share ideas, and one of the builder partners lives in Charleston, SC. They were featured on Season 3 and were asked if they knew of anyone in Colorado they could feature on Season 4, so he directed them to us,” Sherrill explains.

The shortened timeframe was one of the biggest challenges they encountered when constructing the homes, Sherrill says.

“Everything had to be done in record speed,” she adds. “Landmark Homes prides itself on quality construction. We completed construction of these homes in four months. It was incredible. We had multiple trades working on the homes. At one point, we had 50 roofers working. Everyone was working their hardest to meet the deadline.”

Located just 30 minutes away from Boulder, the properties have already received a lot of attention, according to Sherrill.

“We thought a lot of the potential buyers would be fans of the show from out of state, but what we are finding is a lot of buyers from Northern Colorado,” she said. “They’re local, which was very much a surprise for us.”

Fans of the show and potential buyers will also be in for some surprises.

“There were some unfinished areas in each of the houses that were not shown on the show,” Sherrill adds. “We are finishing each of those and adding some enhancements in the entryway that were also not televised.”

The Heron Lakes community offers resort-style living, which includes its world-renowned TPC golf course. Other amenities include a pool with cabanas, a clubhouse with restaurants, a gym, and golf simulators.

“The location is just incredible, offering amazing views of both golf courses and mountains,” Sherrill says. “The show settled right in on that location immediately, so it was a home run for everyone.”
