Our plaid Christmas decor bedroom makeover has proven to be our most popular decorated Christmas room on google and pinterest this year, 2021 and today I’m sharing how you can get the look too on a budget! Christmas decor, especially plaid, is versatile and can be used in any room in your home. Plaid throw pillows, quilts and Christmas ornaments are my favorite go-to Christmas decor items!

This plaid bedroom Christmas makeover started because I found this gorgeous bedding at HomeGoods but wasn’t loving the idea of blue walls. So instead of being a normal person and finding bedding that would work with my existing wall color, I decided to paint the walls white so I could get this bedding.
Red Plaid Christmas Decor Ideas
You may remember the painting over the navy blue project in my old bedroom (at our old house) and painting the room white and this new white paint color (West Highland by Sherwin Williams) couldn’t be a more perfect backdrop for the red and white plaid Christmas bedding.

Christmas Aesthetic
What is your Christmas decorating style or aesthetic? My Christmas decorating style tend to be classic featuring red and white. I love rustic, woodland and gorgeous pops of green. I have been knows to share a full Coastal Christmas home tour as well. I guess it all depends on the style that suits my fancy that year!
Kind of fun right? The snow flakes on the wall are Christmas tree ornaments from HomeGoods. I used double sided tape to adhere them to the wall.
This is an inexpensive way to fill a blank wall during Christmas.
Flat Christmas ornaments can stick to just about any surface ;).

Plaid Christmas Bedding
Isn’t it amazing what white paint can do for a bedroom?
I created the bedding layers by using a red velour blanket, ruffled white duvet, a red and white plaid quilt (The Pottery Barn Red Plaid just became available 2021 here) and finished the look with a variety of pillows. Keep reading, I will provide shopping links at the bottom of the post.
A simple strand of garland paired with two red reindeer complete the look on top of the dresser.
Buffalo Plaid Christmas Bedroom
Buffalo plaid Christmas decor is another favorite pattern that I love especially for bedding. There are many different types of plaid Christmas themes, Red and white along with buffalo plaid are my favorites!
In previous years I have used similar Christmas bedding and created the naughty or nice them below. I love those red velour Christmas pillows! You can purchase polka dot sheets and coordinate with a white and red diamond quilt (mine is from 3 seasons ago) to get this look below.
