Genius Family Command Center Ideas!

Jamie here! This week the kids went back to school and I am DETERMINED to be more organized this year. No more living with piles of paper stacked up on counters! No more searching under beds for library books at 6:30 in the morning! No more lost permission slips! IT IS HAPPENING!
I asked other readers for some ideas of command centers they have put together and thought I'd share a few of their best
Whether you have lots of space, a little space – or no space whatsoever – you can do this!
Family Command Center Ideas
Closet Parent Command Center
Do you have an unused closet? Well – if you do you're a lucky duck but ALSO you can turn this space into a little retreat to gather your thoughts and keep things organized!
Reader Kelly did just that with an unused walk-in closet and it’s the best thing ever! She said:
It’s so cozy and I’m able to shut the door and focus on what I need to get done. Prior to this I didn’t realize how much time I wasted not having all my things in one space (ie laptop, pens, envelopes, stamps, etc). It’s been amazing. Hope this helps you brainstorm your own space!
Homework Station Command Center
If you have one wall of a room you can transform – this would be ideal for home schooling or homework!
Reader Heather built this impressive desk last year when her kids went to at-home-learning, and made the space super functional for multiple kids.
We love the way she has the desktop balanced on those 4 filing cabinets and each kid gets their own bulletin board to keep track of things. Total goals!
P.S. If you love that dreamy color like we do – she said it's “Slate Tile” by Sherwin Williams.
Entryway Command Center
When you're short on extra space – an entry way command center might be the best choice for your family!
Reader Stephanie has her entryway outfittedwith these cute baskets – ready to collect hold masks, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, sunscreen, karate belts and other items they need easily accessible.
She's made it into a place to hang backpacks, drop papers, write notes, and keep track of the family schedule – it looks fantastic!
I made a similar one a few years ago for my boys using this wire basket organizer for each kid to put papers that need signing, etc.. – and right next to that I put this $60 goodwill find. It's holds backpacks and shoes and jackets – it's a lifesaver!
